The Hunt:
We got permission from the church to be out in the cemetery that night and we got there after sundown, probably some time around 9PM. We parked in the parking lot of the new church and walked across the road to the cemetery next to the old church and went through one of the smaller wrot iron gates and when we got in there, Darrell pointed out the approximate location of Alice's grave. We saw that there was a large streetlight on a pole back in the area and we were slightly upset, thinking it would take away from the creepiness of the cemetery.
So I took a shot of the old church (its creepy itself) and we went back to Alice's grave. On our way back to the grave, the streetlight near it went out. We thought it a little creepy but when we got back there it came back on, only it was a different color. It went off and on changing colors the whole time but we attributed that to a timer or something but it did make it ever creepier, in my opinion, than it might have been otherwise. But regardless, we got to her grave and I was overly excited. I have read about Alice and wanted to see that single grave since I was in 1st or 2nd grade. It was littered with coins, rings, and flowers that people had left to Alice as homage. We began our work...
First, I started taking some pictures. Someone would point out an interesting spot and I would snap off pictures or I would find something creepy and snap off a picture. When we first got to her grave, we went to check out the area around it. We found an interesting little row of stones in a line that was like 20 feet long and this above ground burial site that made me feel sick to my stomache to ever be near it esspeically in the middle of it near the top. I took a picture of that and we wandered back to Alice's grave to do EVP.
Darrell was in charge of EVP and we were recording nearly the entire time. I have not thouroughly reviewed the recordings from that night as of yet, but I hope to very soon. But regardless, we just walked around doing EVP. Between the kids and our constant chatting about places, etc. I don't think it's very clear. :-P
We were just about to leave when I wanted to go in the little section of the cemetery that was inclosed in its own litle iron fence. We were hearing popping sounds and shuffeling sounds back there all night and I just had to go back there. So we get to the gate of the plot and Darrell starts recording and says "If there is anyone here wishing to communicate with us, this is your chance." and as the words had just left his mouth, we heard the high pitch squeel of the gate just in front of us moving. We got the sound on tape which is promptly followed by our nervous babble. But we went in the gate for a few minutes and took some photos then we were on our way.
The gate squeaking was the top of the night. Our hunt lasted only about 20 or 30 minutes but it was more than a success. The place was creepy and the light going off and on made it moreso that way. After leaving we attempted to find The Hermitage, the former home of Alice Flagg, but we're not sure if we found it or not. But regardless, the trip was a success.
Findings/Conclusions:
More time and investigating is needed for me to give a definate answer but as it stands right now, I think it could very well be haunted. We got plenty of possible orbs and apparitions in out photos and the gate creak coupled with our hearing sounds in the area of the gate all night make it impossible for me to say it is not haunted. People have been seeing things and feeling things in there for ages now and their accounts plus our's makes me think that it would be haunted. Check it out for yourself. Just get permission and bring lots of light...
